Please note: these photos were taken under both normal fluorescent office light (deep coloured stones) and a LED desk lamp (lighter colours) to enable inclusions to be visible.
These stones were cut in Australia in the 1980's.
The cutting style was completely different to stones cut in Ceylon or Thailand at that time, where the bottom was rounded and the weight could be as much as twice the weight of our stones.
Also, it could be a nightmare to set such stones in jewellery requiring long claws to hold them in place, for a while.
(Due to the advanced cutting of FACETED Sapphires as well, we even EXPORTED large shipments of cut stones TO Thailand...!)
Our stones have a proper setting edge and a clean faceted and polished back.
This has been at the cost of loosing weight and extra labor, which has to be compensated for by a higher price per carat.
But, the clean look, low profile, easy to set and also set securely for the longer term, makes this set ideal for use in a bracelet.
