These Sapphires were "Mined, Cut and Polished in Australia!"
When cut in the 1980's, the cutting style on the back of our Sapphires were possible unique as anything else on the market had a bulging heavy back with no defined girdle.
This was done in order to keep the stones as heavy as possible and thereby make the price per carat appear as fairly low; an illusion trap that even experienced jewellers falls for.
Our stones were cut with a sharp setting edge and with a flat back with no excess weight, as seen in one photo.
The convenience and time saving when setting these stones and also the appearance made these stones a far more attractive proposition than Asian "native cut" stones.
