Brilliant veins of Opal running through these 1970's pieces.
The rough would not be cut this way today where the Opal is hidden inside the stones, but Boulder Opal was not all that expensive in those days and there was an endless supply of rough, as well.
The supply of rough today and into the future is another story, altogether.
Today, the rough would be split open along the veins exposing ALL of the Opal and on each side resulting in a huge difference in value.
If it wasn't for these pieces being quite thin, some of them can/could be broken but resulting in less than 3.5mm wide stones. It is extremely unlikely to find a parcel like this available anywhere.
